How can anyone be sure of anything?

There are many times in history when people have believed something as truth but have been completely wrong. Take for instance slavery, Hitler, and the geocentric model. How one be sure that something is true and not simply blind to other truths? Can anyone really know the whole truth? What truth can be trusted? What model can be used to determine truth? And can the model by which truth is measured be trusted ? Truth is troublesome to deal with when it comes to belief systems and religion because it is challenging to measure morals and mindsets if there is no agreed model in which to measure truth.  Thankfully, we both can agree that the Christian God exists and therefore we can allow Him to be the model by which we measure all truth. And if measuring truth by using God as the model is not exactly agreed upon, then that is something that should be investigated more on before continuing. Seeking the Approval of Others Thoughts on the video: A person asks Dr. Stanley "How can I stop seeking the approval of others?" The questioner expressed something that I connect with. She said "I know I care more about making people happy than I probably should." I feel the same way. I worry too much about saying something that would not make a person like me or happy. So most of the time I say nothing at all. It's really frustrating. I want to be myself and express myself without the need to make sure that I'm pleasing people, or not annoying them. I just want to be weird without the worry of what people think of me. "How do you seek approval? Is it in your conversations?" Wow, this one got me good. I didn't know I was seeking approval of people through my conversations.
